The deliverable titled “D3.1. Regulatory and standardization state of the art” is now available for download
The deliverable presents the regulatory context of the EU, existing standards as well as relevant initiatives and discusses the potential hurdles to the deployment of swappable battery systems across Europe.
In July 2021, the European Commission adopted the “Fit for 55”-package, a broad legislative package to align existing EU policy with the new emissions reduction goal of 55% by 2030, supporting the implementation of the Green Deal. A predictable pathway for the ecosystem has been set by the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy. This includes major legislative adaptations and evolutions including the combined transport and batteries regulation.
The massive transition towards clean mobility offers opportunities for EU to become a global leader in decarbonising the sector. In this context standardization can be of major support by boosting innovation to market as well as creating trust and confidence in new technologies.
